WASH

by Escape Poverty Africa | 2024-09-17 |

We consider four dimensions in our programming:
Water use: The quantity, quality, accessibility, and reliability of water for different uses.
Water pollution: The ability to live hygienically and in a clean environment.
Hazards and risks: Protection of people from the most severe water-related risks.
Water resource security: In terms of quantity, quality, and reliability of water bodies on which people rely.
EP Africa works with all stakeholders – in their respective roles – to realise gradual improvements in water management and governance. We interlink government, private sector, and civil society actors – so that they can develop a system with the right checks and balances together, enabling responsible water use that is governed sustainably and equitably.

Governance and Social Accountability

by Escape Poverty Africa | 2024-09-16 |

Improving the lives of the world’s most vulnerable requires that governments have the capacity to deliver essential services. Escape Poverty Africa’s approach to development recognizes that effective state institutions are necessary to ensure that people’s lives are improved with better services, ranging from health to education to security to job creation.

For us, this means improving the supply of services from government institutions, empowering citizens and civil society to hold government to account and demand better service delivery and the protection of their rights, and improving government responsiveness to these citizen demands.
